I am presently restoring an old Saronni bike. While removing the paint before it gets resprayed, I noticed that there was a bit of surface rust inside the seat tube. Probably a bit of water entered this area from the seat pillar. All the insides of the other tubes are perfect. After I have removed the rust - should not be that difficult ( luckily it was the seat tube ) how should I protect the inside of that tube ? Normally I spray inside the tubes with a rust protection liquid, similar to your Framesaver stuff, and when that is dry, I also give it a coat of linseed oil as well. ( I live by the sea - so need extra protection ! ) I was wondering whether I should apply a metal primer to the inside of the seat tube or the inside of the whole frame before I put in all the other protection that I do. Suggestions please. When the frames are made, what do manufacturers do to protect the inside of the frames, or do they just spray the outside. Thanks Phil Grizic Durban - South Africa
