Hello all!

A friend of mine brought a BSA Gold Column into the store today that they purchased. It appears to be a original early 50's or so with drop bars and a 4 speed freewheel and early derailleur. But it has some posts brazed onto the frame and fork, like current cantilever braze-ons, but the brakes are later centerpulls. Does anybody know what kind of brake would mount on these posts? Or are they for something else? (I can't imagine what). If they are for brakes, does anybody have a set of brakes that they would like to sell? Any idea how to determine the date of the bike?

Here are some pics of the bike. Pic 1 and 2 are of the front and rear brakes.

Any help would be appreciated.

Thanks,
