Back in the 70´s I lived in Lund just opposite Copenhagen and as I had nothing better to do (just a family and an academic career) I visited the well-known shops and builders in Copenhagen; Grebart, Banani, Schröder etc. Sure existed and made very nice bikes, my friend Aksel who raced was deeply enamoured in his. I´ve tried to see if they still exist, but with no success. Had a reputation back when, though!

2.rad Schröder in Bremen http://www.2-rad-schroeder.de is an old and big bike shop with a very wide program. As far as I know they don´t make any bikes now under their own name, but might well have done so. They have an exceptional web-place that some may find worth exploring (warning though - it´s in german and you might also see some modern bikes).

Must tell a story: visited Banani with friend, found nice brown suede saddle, friend who had seen the same saddle in pastell blue asked the master (somewhat aged, old style racer man) if they had one of those, master leans heavily on desk, looks friend hard in the eyes and says:" One thing I´ll tell them, _'that'_ kind of thing we don´t sell here!"
