One source of wool caps...Cannondale made one a few years back. I think they may still make them (I should know, we carry Cdale at the store) but I have one and I really like it. I also got a green woolie cap which I love from a source called shetland supply store (I think) in Canada near Lake Erie at Port Dover. Awesome cap, comfy as all get out and warm, not bulky...no name inside. I am not sure if this guys wife made them or not but he had some wool like pullovers and other items including panniers and other material that he made. He was a kiwi guy gentleman who had a massive boat. He and his wife had a small setup of wool bike clothes and panniers and other items which I only bought several things (I was short on cash supply after filling my brother-law's boat up with fuel!) He gave me his card which had a website but I have long since lost the card, careless me.
I also have some riv wool items like the undershirts which are far scratchier than the merino comfy woolies I have seen but work just as good. Longscycle.com has woolies and I know I saw where it appears they have just got another shipment of wool jerseys in various colors. they are cheap and scratchy. they work fine. I will say the Vintage velos that are offered are far better and more comfortable. They are better made and more expensive but I can see them holding up far longer. I like my wool for Pennsylvania winters! I also know a source for $6/pr wool socks here locally. I hooked up some people a few years back. I like mine. they are super warm. I am not sure if the others have used them or not.

a neat blue wool Campy cap. It's the kind that has the fold
down section for your ears. I still have the cap and in fact
I used it when skiing (nordic) in the Sierra last week, but it
is in very tough shape. Where does one get these caps
these days? I'd like either one that has the same Campy
logo on it, or just a plain one. I've seen the Kucharik ones
and I guess I'm not jumping to buy one of those first.
BTW, I'd like to hear opinions on wool clothing: who makes
good ones, where to get it, etc.
I'm sort of coming back around to wool. I bike commute to work every day and the route is long enough to make wearing bike specific clothing worthwhile (meaning changing in and out of it doesn't take as long as the bike ride would). I've been using the wool undershirts found at Rivendell, and I must say it made a big difference in comfort. I wore the shortsleeved one under a modern jersey all summer long. I'd be intersted in hearing about alternatives to those wool undershirts too. The quality of the construction is just fine. The wool is not merino though. It's just a tad scratchy, but that's not a big deal. Would there be any more durable wool than the stuff in the Rivendell undershirts?
