I have a mechanical VDO speedometer with odometer in my parts bin, got it in the late '60's. Nice chrome on top, white on the bottom, mounted to the stem bolt on my pivo stem for my '68 PX-10 (now gone). Its got a white, composite?, spiral gear about 2-1/2" diameter that mounts between the dropout and hub's lock nut and a grey housing for the square cable running between. I think the case is alloy. I haven't seen it for a while but its in pretty nice shape. If someone is interested, I could bring it to the Cirque di Cyclisme for the swap meet. Reply off list if interested.

For that matter what of cyclometers (mechanical as well)? What was in use in what years (as are appropriate for the list)?
On my 1982 Trek 728, I still use the "Cat Eye Velo Cyclo Computer CC-1000". I think it is an an '82, though I bough tit in '83. The computer is large and weighs over 1/4 pound. It uses the 12 cm white plastic-like magnetic ring that attaches to the spokes and encircles the hub flange. Was this the first "Cat Eye" computer? Fairly ugly and inelegant, but period correct.
