Subject: [CR]Copake NY swap & auction

Greetings campers and winter S.A.D sufferers (swap addiction deficiency?)

Something else to check out and maybe add to your swap fix schedule: The 11th annual Copake auction preview is on-line at http://www.copakeauction.com/bicycles.html Swap meet is on FRIDAY April 12. Auction is Saturday April 13

Always a mixed bag of stuff at the swap. Usually a couple dealers with stuff that would directly interest the members of this group, but not necessarily the same dealers each year, so I never know what to expect. List member Peter Paine from the UK had a table full of vintage goodies last year. Lots of other non-CR stuff as well. With my very limited interests, not something that justifies the 1200 mile round trip. Fortunately, I have ulterior motives. It provides an excuse to visit friends in the area, and an opportunity to ride on paved roads. An event worth checking out if you're in the neighborhood.

As for the auction items, well, not much there for this crowd (I can't identify the red 10-speed from the picture, item UC-006. I'll find out when I get there.) but some very interesting items for those with wide ranging shopping lists and deep pockets. Love the ice "scooter", in a scary, fatal attraction sort of way. But PLEASE, if anybody can explain to me the thought process that led to the development of a Schwinn Stingray TANDEM ........ all I see are the negatives. (That's just who I am). Two sugar crazed, short attention span kids who just want to tear around doing skids and wheelies...... on a tandem?! The mind boggles.

Dreaming my little dreamy dreams of a bike swap every weekend, but I'll settle for a few miles of road without snow/salt/cinders Larry "Mr. Negativity" Osborn At the Negative Pole, WV
