I visited Chris again last night and he is up and about for limited walking. He thanks those who have expressed concern and kind wishes. He should be out of the hospital by this weekend.
I left him with more reading material- California Cycle Supply from Velo Retro and some pages from John Eisenmann Racing Specialties. As Chuck says on his web site the California is highly recomended if you have an interest in what was available for racing bikes in the US pre-1950. Eisenmann shows the Durkopp and Sieber racing bikes and equipment from the same era. Great stuff. I have a Sieber which is very nice. The Newark Velodrome types (Joe Nevelle and the Brennan brothers) used to hold the Durkopp in high regard but I have never seen a Durkopp track bike in the flesh.
On a side note there has been way too much copying of prior posts on the list, often entire old digests. Be especially carefull if you get the digest version of the list. Cut and paste the essential parts of old posts only please.
