Based on my experience, you can keep your boxes sparkling clean and empty. Hotmail still gave me the boot to my CR list and then later to my BOB list. I kept them clean. I can now access my home emails from a web based client and therefore signed up again with the CR under my home email but I still don't always have access to my address book, which can be a pain. My recommendation is to go to yahoo or Excite. Both seem to tolerate the lists well without giving you the boot.

So a word of warning to all with Hotmail, Yahoo, etc., accounts that you should either stay on top of your mail or opt for the digest version of the CR. If you go on vacation or need to be off the list for a period of time, you can choose a temporary "no mail" membership, in effect, "treading water" for any time frame. That all can be done here:
