man-there's alotta speculation on this auction and the seller. i would hate to be an uneducated seller who happened to list a vintage era part. oh, to come under the inspection of the ebay police. (that comment was part 'toungue in cheek', maybe 70%/30%...). fwiw, the guy owned the bicycle since '52 and we thought it was made in '49. the story he printed was true. he first contacted me about the restoration about 8 years ago, but we did it 2 years ago. he wanted me to do to his bianchi what i did to my 2 1971 italian masis.(i have TWO!!!). unlike the 2 restorations that i did for myself, this was done for money, HIS money. owing to time and budgetary constraints, we cut the project short. many of the original parts that were removed for the paint job were not reassembled. the 'wrong' parts that are now on this bianchi were chosen because the seller wanted it to be rideable; he was going to keep it for his grandson. it DID have all the correct parts for an early '50s bicycle. the decals are correct-gary prange took the original frame and scanned the art right from the frame, just as he did when my masi art was generated. but i think he didn't correct for the 'I' in bianchi because that particular letterform appears two different ways in '50s bianchi art. please don't make a big deal of this auction, the bicycle, or the seller. he's owned the bicycle for 50-plus years and now he's selling it. what's the harm if he's not (as) well versed (as our list bretheren) in the jargon? e-RICHIE Richard Sachs Cycles No.9, North Main Street Chester, CT 06412 USA http://www.richardsachs.com Tel. 860.526.2059
