Clearing house and I've placed a few things up on eBay:

Certainly within the CR's timeframe mandate, 9 International Cycle Sport Magazines from 1972, 1973, and 1974:

On the trailing edge (and extending beyond) of the CR's timeframe, 42 Winning Bicycle Racing Illustrated Magazines, 1983-1995:

and a copy of the UCI's Le monde cycliste from August 1988:

Although this is outside the CR timeframe it has a nice article in it about the history of the development of gears on bicycles with many photos of some old mechanisms. Perhaps not too noteworthy to many of our very learned members but neat none the less.

My question stems from a picture I've put up in the ImageStation album from that UCI magazine. It's the last shot in the magazine album:

Specifically, I came across a Bottechia in an LBS that was in for repair and the gentleman that owned it wanted to find out more about it and restore it. The shop was doing it's best to find out what it could and through information from the Museum of Science and Technology here in Ottawa they figured the bike was from 1946. I offered to see what info I could dig up.

It had these dropout pictured, where the bearings were outboard of the hub flanges, and the fork ends had round latches that grabbed the bearings. Neat system. A look through my Rebour books found illustrations of this system dated 1949. Can anyone provide more info as to what this was called? Who made it? When it was made? Any good pics of a similarly equipped bike?

Any help appreciated.
