Thanks in advance for a bit of help. As a child, I wanted a bike with a Nuovo Record derailleur, I thought they looked so nice. So at age 38 I just got a bice one, and set it up on my (more modern) bike. I have a question or two before I go out on my ride tomorrow about the setup.

I am used to a rear derailleur that pivots at the derailleur hanger bolt, often with some kind of a spring. The NR almost locks in place (can rotate it with a bit of torque) when I tighten the allen mounting bolt. Is this correct?

I also wanted to make certain that I am not missing a washer at the hanger bolt, on either side of the derailleur body. Thanks in advance for the responses.

Otherwise the shifting seems very smooth and light. Reminds me of the feel of my old simplex setups, without the flex of the plastic shift lever:)

I have followed mosts posts in CR for about two years now and I have really enjoyed having this group around. This is my first post (except for the garbled first attempt).

Thanks in advance, Dan Kasha Providence, RI PS now I just need a classic frame to go along with the NR derailleur:)
