I have used all of the tubulars you have listed. I didn't have good results (mileage wise) with the Vittoria Rally's or the Hutchinson's. The higher quality Vittoria tires have rather gaudy lettering and aren't classic looking - even if you can find the black ones rather than the blue, yellow, green, etc.

I like the Conti's. The Sprinter 250 is the best, but also much more expensive than the Giro. Both the and the Giro have discrete brand markings, which would probably look best on a classic bike.

The best buy I found a couple of years ago was when Nashbar was importing some Nashbar branded tires that were made in the Czech republic, and were selling them for just over $20. unfortunately those haven't been available in the past year.

Your mileage may vary.

What would the list suggest as a classic looking (i.e. not multicoloured) tubular tire that is not overly expensive, and doesn't need to be all that light? Basically looking for something to buy in bulk so that I can get some of the old steeds on the road, these do not need to be race quality (as much as I enjoy the feel of them) tires.

After poking around the web, seems like the only options available are:

Continental Sprinter or Giro, Vittoria Rally, or perhaps the Hutchinson Rally (all black).

Any others I should know about, comments on these or any others appreciated.
