Well, we're starting to hang parts on the new (to me) Benotto frame, and the first surprising thing is that the seat post needed is neither 27.2 nor 27.0. A 26.8 just barely starts, but is still too big. Could it be a 26.6? Or 26.4? (Didn't have a post in those sizes to try.)

Were Benottos produced with undersized seat tubes? Might I have gotten a Mexico bike with an oddball tubing set? There is no indication that the seat tube has been sleeved, and it seems round and smooth inside. The tubing sticker indicates Columbus double butted. I would swear it's original paint. I can't feel any seams on the tubes.

Anyone confronted this mystery before? Thanks.
