AH HA !! !!
SO !!
YOU'RE the reason that I don't own a 1971 Gran Criterium .
You've got 'em all .
My 1972 Frejus-Legnano Professional Record Super Corsa ( more fun to say than it is to write ) , still proudly carries the Reynolds 531 decal it bore the day I was allowed to wheel it out through the dealer's door .
The decal is the standard ( for the time ) double butted tubes forks and stays , Reynolds 531 , decal .
The Reynolds decal , due to the amount of graphics on the seat tube , and to the fairly unique Legnano-style seat binder ( inside and under the seat tube to top tube intersection ) , is located on the top of the top tube , towards the front of the top tube , just a few millimeters behind the short point of the lug ( top tube to head tube lug ) .
I did find a review of it , at the time , before buying it , which made something of the fact that this Italiano bicycle builder used Reynolds tubing .
Those seat stays are certainly beautifully double tapered ( becoming quite fine at both ends ) .
Funny how those seat stays don't look all that much like what you'd expect from Reynolds 531 seat stays . . .
Happy Trails ,
