Ok, OK... Bill, I think that is a bit hard hearted.. Snobbish actually! (not in a big way tho')

Those bikes were only $229.00, for crying out loud! So the forks had to go (I mean.. be replaced!) the rest of the stuff worked not any worse, at that time, than a Raleigh Record or a Schwinn Varsity, it's competition at those prices! OK, so the bars tended to twist in their sleeves (rivet to the rescue!) OK, so the later non-tapered bb cranks "might" come loose... OK, the sealed bearing bottom bracket was difficult to replace/repair.. OK, so the rear derailleur worked almost as well as a Huret Allvit... OK, so the front derailleur worked almost as well as what it copied, a Campagnolo Valentino. (!) BIG DEAL! Nothing a creative Yugo mechanic couldn't fix!
