Had a great time dragging my wife Linda around VeloSwap. Although I would've had a much better time if I wasn't basically broke so I passed on a lot of cool stuff. Evidently missed out on a cool Libertas frameset I saw a guy with. I asked how much he wanted for it but he'd just bought it himself. It was black with copper/brass (gold plating ??) lugs and fittings. Even had a brass plate on the down tube with the owner's name on it -cool. If I saw the price tag on it correctly it was well under $100 (under $75 for that matter). Drat ! Also saw a nice Motobecane frameset (with headset and nice looking 3 arm Simplex - Stronglight maybe - crankset) - all of $50-$60 but too big for me. Double Drat ! I enjoyed looking at John Barron's Velo Stuff tables but didn't buy anything - Sorry John, maybe next year. And I saw the table with all the Paramounts (liked the full chrome one !) but I'm not a big Paramount fan. Still, the seller had some NICE bikes. Saw Mike Kone several times too at various booths.

Ended up buying very little (next year I'm planning my finances better !) - just an old SR Laprade seatpost for $5, a TA front mini rack for whenever I do get my Motobecane for $10 (wrapped in 70's French newspaper no less), and a cool book from the VeloNews booth - a history of sorts of the TdF for all of $10 (hardbound, new, sells for $30 in the bookstores). Linda bought several pairs of $5 slippers at the Acorn booth. The SR seatpost is polishing up really pretty and should look quite nice on my Rivendell.

My hunt for cheap Maxi Car hubs, a Jubliee front derailleur, and a TA Zephyr crankset yielded no results. Triple drat !

It was nice seeing you guys there - next year maybe I can share a table with you. Glad you had a successful day.

Not a CR timeframe item but did you guys see the the clear coated fillet brazed 853 framesets ? They were actually kind of neat. Since they were just clear coated you could see the brass work - didn't look too bad. May have been tempted by one if I'd had cash.

Overall, I didn't see as much neat stuff this year as last. Ah well.

Cheers, John Price Denver, CO

Guys, the VeloSwap was a success, all told. I think we ended up bringing more stuff back in Paul's truck than we came with, but oh well.

Mike, the Ibis is in my garage :(. Not too much interest, sorry to say.

Have a good week, all.

Hey all,

Good seeing you guys today. Thanks Peter for hooking me up with that Brooks Saddle! James, I hope you sold some stuff and thank for trying to sell my Ibis:-)

Paul, can't believe that your Superman Bike did not move when I was there!

Sorry I had to bug out but had another commitment I had to keep...

Later guys,

Mike
