Another way is to have bookmarks in your browser software for ebay's search by number and ebay's search by seller.

Number search: http://ebay.com/<blah

Seller search: http://ebay.com/<blah

The seller search also works for emails, so by dropping John Dunn's email address <bikehunter@msn.com> in, it turns out he's got a banjo listed. If the url gets messed up in the email, just copy the numbers out and paste them in the number search.
