About things from different places .

And about buying "genuine" , "real" , products .

It's no secret that Rivendell & their riders , like to mix nationalities when building up their bicycles . They even mix parts from different continents , cultures , races , and religions . Purists sometimes cringe . I myself have built up a bicycle I'm rather proud of , with Ron Cooper frame , Stronglight triple crankset , Campagnolo derailleurs and brakes , Weyless seatpost , Avocet saddle , and ( originally at least ) Aerolite pedals . Hmmmmm , UK , France , Italia , USA . ( Und wo ist Deutschland ? )

Some may remember when , here in the USA , General Motors got into much trouble for putting Chevrolet engines into more expensive cars . All still made in USA . All from same corporation . Just NOT the "right brand" . Hmmmmm . Same corporation paying the employees . Just made in a different building ( yes , to a different design , but an almost equivalent design ) .

O.K. , I just looked at the Magistroni crankset . As a fan of steel crankarms , I have to say , nice!

Which includes mention of a Web site from "magpie" that is very informative , and has many branching links .

Great ! I've seen these headsets and wondered . I have an Atala with one of these headsets , and one of these cranksets , but no name on the crank . Now I know ! One of the photos shows a Magistroni crankset stamped with the winged logo of FB . O.K. , we all know that FB would stamp the name of any company willing to pay , into their hubs . Apparently , Magistroni did the same with their crankarms . All right ! So , now I need to go get a frameset of mixed heritage , perhaps a Merckx made by who knows who . I need to get a rare Magistroni crankset , stamped with the FB logo . Get some FB hubs , stamped with one of the more unusual names , perhaps something French . . . Now , what to use for derailleurs . . . I have it ! Milremo ! " C'est Milremo ! C'est Magnifique ! "

And by the way , if Campagnolo had owned a 51% share in FB , would that somehow make those FB hubs with the Campagnolo name on them "REAL" Campagnolo hubs ?

Just food for thought .

Put it all into the blender , hit "Puree" .
