Sorry Boys,
But this guy's WRONG! That Pergolizzi fella in N.Y.C. has a set of the "prototypes" on his J.P.Weigle full proto show bike (as can be attested to by all of this years Cirque attendees.Check out July 1985 Bicycling "The Dream Makers" , 1986 Playboy(month?) and this years Cirque photos.Yes , that does mean you too Louie Deeter.
As told to me by Weigle: brakes were part of a prototype groupo distributed by Campy to certain U.S. framebuilders for the 84 N.Y + L.A. shows. The groupos were supposed to be returned to Campy after the shows...but they never "asked" for them back.
      Proto cranks-only172.5
Headset-flats are further apart;so regular headset tools don't fit
May have been other minor differences.Don't know. Their are more out there.Beware! Pergolizzi New York, N.Y.

> Has this not come up because you are all so disciplined about staying in the SR era and earlier? Come on, it is 1984, according the the auction, and if it is a prototype, it is actually earlier. This has all the elements of great CR banter. It's Campy, it's rare, it may be very rare... there's the who E-bay variable and the seller even mentioned our Ritchie by name. What's up Ritchie? DO you really have another 33% of the global supply? Is this really a proto, or is it just the very rare first gen production model. Looks like photos I've seen of the G-1 production and pretty similar the second-gen ones I've seen in the flesh, though different in a million ways. Very nice finish for a prototype. Back to check the Campy-Only links.
