Unfortunately, some sellers take more "degree(s) of hyperbole" than they should. Some misstatements or downright misrepresentations never seem to be disclosed by the seller, even when CR members point out problems with the item in the auction description. I believe that a seller is ethically obligated to change their auction description if they realize before or during the auction that the description is inaccurate or wrong.
Without pointing fingers at nationalities, there do seem to be some sellers more prone to hyperbole or misrepresentations. Selling ethics are apparently not fully appreciated by some sellers. Is this a cultural issue between regions of the world? I don't know, but this is why seller or buyer reputations are so important and the CR is the appropriate forum to discuss these issues. People who say, "I don't care" about buyer/seller auction problems are the next birds ready to be shot down by a deceptive transaction because they did not bother to listen to what others want to say.
Some may say, "look closely at the pics" in the auction to validate what the seller is saying. Sometimes these pics are not clear due to camera angle, pic quality, or the buyer may have older equipment or software settings that do not allow highly detailed examination of the auction pics. I hate to think the careful purchase of bike parts has to be based on how much money you have to throw at computer monitors and equipment to show better picture quality.
