I'd like to extend a hearty "Thank You" to Chuck Schmidt for his efforts in putting together this year's Velo Rendezvous and a congratulations for an event that was bigger and better than last year's inaugural VR (didn't think that was possible). Even if you were unable to attend the events in person, you've been able to experience the essence of VR through the reports from Brian Baylis, John Pergolizzi and others, as well as the photos posted by Paulie Davis, Brandon Ives, Wayne Bingham and Thomas Rawson. One moment that I'd like to share occurred near the end of Sunday,as the bikes were being placed back in the cars and trucks and everyone was slowly heading home. Peter Johnson was able to take the 3rd place winning French motor-assist tandem out for a few "hot laps" around the parking lot, and I mean hot. He must have been doing 30mph on that bike, taking corners on it like it was a criterium race. And on untested vintage tires, no less. Boy, that was fun to watch. Thanks ag ain, Chuck, and we're looking forward to VR 03. Jay Van De Velde Seal Beach, CA
