Hello Brandon and all,

I have not used the new mounting hardware but it is modern and much improved on Berthoud bags.

They are much more waterproof than most cordura bags. I have worn out some Berthoud bags over many years, not easy and even the big boxy front handlebar bags are very weather proof.

Their limitation in severe weather is blowing rain in under some exposed top flaps. I have vert similar reports from Caradice cotton bags.

I even sell them. Ortlieb can be more waterproof but a lot less panache.

It's getting time to buy Mitzi a new set of panniers and she's really taken with the look of the Carradice and Berthoud bags. I have a Carradice lowsaddle longflap and like the waxed cotton much better than the cordura nylon of my current Jandd and Madden bags. Has anyone on the list used these kinds of bags for serious touring? How well do they stand up to abuse and weeks of pouring rain? How's the mounting hardware on these bags? Any comparison to "modern" panniers would also be much appreciated. thanks, Brandon"monkeyman"Ives SB, CA >>
