Hi Martin and CR list,
I would say a Colnago International is a 1982-'85 or so bicycle. My understanding
is they were sold as complete bicycles, about mid level Colnago with Omas parts
group "autographed" by Ernesto Colnago....from the saddle to cranks, etc.
I sold one at Cirque 2002 to Mark Poore. A very small 48cm. size. The red of the
Colnago I sold appeared a deeper red than the one shown on e-bay. A friend showed
me a Colnago advertisement from around 1982 showing the Colnago International as
a complete bicycle. The tubeset was Columbus as I remember. It appears that the
Colubus "dove" logo is just barely visible in one of the e-bay photographs for
Item #1870715112. It was a neat looking bicycle. The bicycle I had was equipped
with a six speed freewheel, so it seems odd to have a 130mm spacing for an early
to mid-80's bicycle,as advertised on the auction. Maybe, Mark still has it?
Yours truly,
Martin Walsh in Vienna,Va.
P.S. I'm still trying to get a model name for a Colnago I bought recently circa
1990 with Gilco syle tubing(on one tube only) and Columbus SLX tubing, spaced
130mm. No model name was listed on the frame.Wayne B., do you have your ears on?
