Okay, they're not vintage, but they are classically-inspired lugged steel frames; and the following comments are just random thoughts -

One of the reasons I enjoy my Rivendell so much is that I know the name of the guy who made it. In my case, it's Joe Starck - though I would have been just as pleased had listmember Curt Goodrich built it. Grant P. designed it, and Joe Bell painted it. The ride of a frame made-to-measure is lovely; knowing who made it is delicious icing on the cake.

For the same reasons, I'm looking forward to my Mercian. I hope to prise out of Mr. Betton and his crew the name of whoever is building my Vincitore. It is my understanding that each frame is built start-to-finish by one craftsman in Derby. I hope it's true - and I'd like to know who painted it, too, for that matter.

Not meaning to slam anyone here, but there's a lot of honor in being a "salaried batch worker" if you take pride in your work. And isn't that how most of the frame-builders whose work we adore started out?
