I have used the following Synchron brakes GB, Altenberger and Weinmann on solo's, tricycles, tandem trikes and tandems.My Hobbs Blue Riband tandem trike is still fitted with one and they work well, these brakes were and are still favoured by British tricyclists. Dick Morris the famous London builder swears by them and was up until recently still riding with his son on their F.W. Evans tandem which is only equipped with a pair of synchron brakes, there a hefty pair of riders surely testament enough.
