As I have written before, I am fairly new to the road bike collecting. I ride my classics each weekend and have run into an issue that I could use some help on. Good ol tubular tires. I have dropped a few coin on some only to find that they do not hold air well. In fact I have a fairly new tire that is getting worse and only holds air for about a few hours. Now I am one that loves to tinker and learn all there is to learn about bikes. I would like to attempt my first tubular tire repair but ran into a puzzle. How do you locate the exact spot where to cut into the thread to make the repair? I pumped up the tire and put it under water and it looks like Alka-Seltzer. I tried to cut off sections of the tire by folding it by hand and that was no better. Are there any tips or tricks that I can use to locate the hole. I have now quite a few I can practice on. I am beginning to wonder if these tires are just prone to air loss and the best I can hope for is a quick ride after a pump up.
Thanks
