I have not been a member of the CR list long enough to comfortably state my thinking about the group`s proceedures, but at the risk of appearing presumptuous, I wish to respectfully offer my `2 yen' in ventureing a opinion about the notification of items seen at auction. Some "busy people" do have the gumption to make the time to earch for items, and the reward for this is the location of things that many people may miss by a more casual approach. Public announcements about finds that often, "blow the deal out of the water", may be helpful for folks who are involved in other activities, or (dare I say it?) lazy, and/or rich, but I consider it a disservice to those whose own efforts have yielded a potential for themselves. Perhaps I`m not as "kind" as most of the members in not wanting to share what I find, but am I incorrect in my observation that generally it is the individual who is not interested in bidding, that brings the item to everyone`s attention? Personally, I'll easily trade the items I miss for the ones I find. Buyers who are also sellers may have a difficult time in coming to terms with my position, and thus feel the need to play "quarterback" and "linebacker" on the issue at the same time, but I respectfully suggest that it may mainly be self interest that tips the scale in developing their logic. Sure, I am also offering this opinion out of self interest, but please bear in mind that I live in a country where sources of classic parts are few and very far in-between. Japanese swap meets! Say what? I wasn`t here during the bubble economy, so I don`t have stacks of money tucked away up in the rafters. Come on boys, isn`t America the land of self enterprise?
Most respectfully yours,
