I see the list as a special community of like minded souls and feel that outing our Ebay auctions without giving the list itself a shot at the stuff first as a kick in the teeth. It's putting profit before community."

Sorry but I disagree completely. I've sold only a few items on eBay, but I have to sell some interesting items soon to pay a Singer bill. I would love to offer everything to list members first, but I have absolutely no clue what prices I should ask for. What's a good price for the pre 1948 MAXI hub, even experts seem to have never seen before? Or my special aero unpainted show version(?) MASI Prestige frame? Or NIB Simplex suicide shifters and 1950 rear derailleurs and "open C" stuff? I have no idea, but I know that given honest descriptions and good pictures, no reserve $1 starting eBay auctions will give the "correct" prices for both sides (by definition).
One of my items I sold was an old triple BB bought by the typical, feared japanese collector for much more than I expected. He was the only one who later sent me happily the pics of his beautiful 1970 ALAN and his first trip with it after he installed the BB, while I had to wait longest for the payment of the only item sold to a list member. So much for the community.
If I get more emails asking me for *not outing* the items on the list I won't do it.
