This is a post from the framebuilders list that I though might be of interest to this list. I haven't actually heard of the product Mark talks about. Anyone on the list familiar with it? enjoy, Brandon"monkeyman"Ives SB, CA
_____________________ I use Nu Finish, an automotive polish that is intended for use on paint. They call it a polish, but it doesn't seem to be abrasive. I think it's more of a polymer sealant. In their ads they say that after 52 trips through a brush type car wash, water still beads up. Recommended application is once a year.
I apply it to seal the aluminum, after polishing with SimiChrome.
I used it on some of the AL bits on one of my old Raleighs, about 5 years ago. Now this bike doesn't get much use, but last year I overheard someone say that they thought chroming the old Campi NR high flange hubs was tacky!
I have NOT used it for bike parts exposed to daily use and foul weather, but judging by the way it protects my car, I would assume reapplication would be infrequent.
When I use it on my car, I can't place objects on the hood or roof for abt. a month afterwards. They just slide right off.
