Just a comment on the Suntour Superbe proprietary taper. It has been suggested that it is of little consequence. I beg to differ.

I just went to mount a Suntour Sprint crankset on the SR Pro-AM frame I'm building up (thanks Jim Narlesky for the catalogue pics). The frame came with a Sugino BB/axle and an SR AX crank. The Sprint crankset ended up wedged about 3/8" out from where it's "normal" position would be. Far from the Cyclone front derailleur's outer range of movement and showing about a half inch of the taper of the axle round the back. Not good. Maybe I could find an shorter axle but I wouldn't be happy about the amount surface contact between the axle/crankset or the crank bolts for that matter.

I put the AX crank back on but it ain't as pretty as the Sprint.

So...where does one find one of these Suntour specific axles. Anyone have a part number or a used one they would sell?

TIA
