I'm a former member of this list who recently re-joined.
I've been riding and collecting stuff since 1970, when I got my Peugeot
UO-8 at Carl Hart's shop in Brooklyn. My interests are very much in the era
this list covers- Cinelli, Campagnolo, Hetchins, Holdsworth, DeRosa,Merckx,
Legnano, and Frejus.
My short wish list includes: Cinelli fenders, Cinelli 66-42 OS logo
bars, Legnano Roma, Peugeot PX-10, Bianchi 1950's or '60's, Holdsworth
Professional,Italian Masi.
I've often dreamt of learning how to braze a lugged frame; wish I could
find someone in the New York City area who'd teach me.
Earlier this year I was in Greensboro, NC, and stopped into the Cycles
de Oro bike shop. This is the largest and probably the nicest bike shop I've
ever been to. There are great vintage bikes hanging from the walls, in
addition to an extensive display of modern bikes. On top of this, Dale is
about as friendly a bike dealer as you are likely to meet, and he clearly
loves to meet and chat with vintage types. Highly recommended if you're in
the area!
