Comment from a non-list friend of mine , about the brand-new 25-pound thoroughly-modern steel-framed Fuji for less than $ 300 , and I quote :

" The free market works! With the development costs being recovered years ago for very high quality steel tubing and the longevity & dependability of the product, steel bikes will ultimatley return because they make economic sense.

Just guessing, but $350 in 1974 was about the same as $1,000 today, so this would be like being able to buy a quality steel bike, but with more sophistication, in 1974 for under a $100! "
