I've been offered for sale a repainted Cinelli SC frameset, said to be
from 1970.
The seatpost is 26.8. To my knowledge, all Cinellis from that period were
26.2.
There is a Columbus sticker on this frame, but that would have been added by
the re-painter. The frame has a metallic headtube badge, fully sloping fork
crown, 3 piece seat binder bolt, and the correct placement of holes in all
the lugs.
Possibilities I've thought of to explain the seatpost size include:
-Frame is made of Reynolds, not Columbus
-Tube was reamed to accomodate a seatpost
-Frame is not a Cinelli (?Windsor)
Any thoughts from the list?
Does this decrease the frames desirability?
If I restore this, how hard is it to return the seat tube to 26.2?
Thanks,
Josh Berger
