Subject: [CR]2002 Westminster Swap - Report

Hi CR List, GREAT SWAP MEET, yesterday February 3rd, at Westminster,Maryland,USA.The usual dealers, buyers and trader's were in attendance. From Ohio, Tom Hayes(came the farthest I think). From Pennsylvania Roy Drinkwater, Charlie Young, Pete Geurds,Tom Dalton and Curtis from VIA CYCLES{ A.K.A. ''senditnow"} (Table)From wild and wonderful West Virginia,"bottom feeder",Larry Osborne......Who was sharing a table with Harvey Sachs and myself from Virginia.....Larry and myself were AWOL from table duties and lost in the crowd....Other Virginians seen:Wayne Bingham(Table), Ed Kinney(Table), and Karen Rawls. The local Marylanders included Jill DiMauro in her "Retro Raleigh" wool jersey,Tom Witcop who alerted me to a 3 Rensho that Wayne Bingham eventually scored.Dan Artley, and Sam FitzSimmons of Baltimore who late in the day alerted me to a Masi(that just sold as I walked up,after passing it a half dozen times). Harvey Sach's cannabilized the part's off the Masi since only the frame was wanted by the buyer.Retro Ride organizer Sean Downing of Chespeake Wheelmen(Table).Baltimore legend "Bobby Phillips and his mother (SEVERAL TABLES).I picked up a NOS Silca floor pump from Bobby that I had never seen before a large: diameter Pump tube chamber for low pressure high volume tires i.e. cruisers, mtb tires (new to me), Silca direction sheet and a decal(Silca).I picked up several Neuvo Record wheels,French threaded Neuvo Record pedals,'74 Neuvo Record rear derailleur(damaged upon closer inspection-crack body near mounting bolt),NOS Christophe toeclips,an A.Y. H. bicycle routes book Copyright 1969 from "Curtis",Neuvo Record brake calipher's with flat handle quick release and a great Italian wool jersey from Ed Kinney to wear around the Swap Meet. The early birds caught the worm but those who stayed to the end were rewarded also....Wayne Bingham -got his 3 Rensho at the end from an adjacent Table, and rims from people begging him to just "take these rims off our hands".Noted absent was Mr. Larry Black of Mt. Airy Bicycles but some of "Larry's shop rats" from College Park and Mt. Airy Bicycles were seen "buying stuff up for the boss".With Larry absent, at the show in San Antonio with Dale we all got a chance to not get scooped by the "Master Vacumn". Look out for Larry at the 2002 Cirque! I aplogize to anyone whose name I may have missed. I'm greatly looking forward to the 2002 Cirque in Greensboro,North Carolina and the Krispy Kreme donuts! Yours truly, Martin Walsh in Vienna,Virginia,USA
