Dale and list,

I apologize for not listing my hometown of McAlester, Oklahoma. I did list the set selling price and my full name. I also thought I was abiding by the guidelines when I looked at the website before posting my ad and saw that:

"The Classic Rendezvous list focusses on bicycles made from the beginning of the Twentieth Century, up to the early 1980s. Certain handbuilt, classic style modern bikes are considered "on topic" here."

With that, I thought a classic Italian steel lugged road bike from 1991 would fall under the latter sentence of the guidelines I gathered from the website. It appears I was incorrect in my interpretation.

Dale, I know it must be difficult to police the many postings that are made to this forum to ensure they include all of the pertinent information. I also know it must be frustrating when folks don't follow the guidelines. I am a law-abiding rule follower most of the time (never been arrested for anything!), and am even better able to do so when the rules are clearly defined.

For example, is there an absolute cut off date for sale postings? Does early 1980's mean pre-1983 the absolute rule? Does that mean no more sale postings for Rivendells, or books printed after 1983, or components manufactured after 1983? The better informed I and the other list members are the better we should be able to help ensure the postings meet the forum requirements. I am not trying to be argumentative, but other than forgetting to list my hometown I thought I was complying with the letter and spirit of the forum guidelines.

Thanks, and I do appreciate all the work that you put into making the forum possible.

Frank Phillips
McAlester, Oklahoma

Guys and gals...

I grow weary of constantly reminding sellers that they must include a set
price, sellers name and city. (City missing in this ad.) This particular
bike is also out of our time range (Latest should be early 1980s. Although it is of interest and worthy, no request was made to me to stretch the limits for this bike.... Geez!
