I've put some responses in after his questions.
GREG: I hope I'm sending this to the right place. A couple of questions about a '72 Paramount P-13 restoration I'm doing. 1. I have both a Universal & Wienmann centerpull brakeset. Would one set be more "correct" than the other? Both are NOS,both from the same period.
HARVEY: I have never seen a Paramount that originally had Universals. I have never seen Universals listed as a Paramount option - but I haven't looked at all the docs. The '72 Paramount catalog does not list Universals; Weinmann would be right.
GREG: 2. I have 2 clampon Campy NR fr. derailleurs. One has a flat outer cage plate, the other a lipped outer cage plate. I don't know when Campy started putting the curved lip on their derailleurs.
HARVEY: The lipped cage is too young. Of course, there were several variants of the flat cage, too. Earliest had a cable stop, and no circlip to retain the parallelogram. By the 72 model, I THINK that it was both no-cable stop and with circlip.
I seem to remember my old Paramount having a Universal centerpull set, but the bike was stolen a few years after I got it & my memory is sketchy on this point. Well, I appreciate any info youall might have. Tailwinds, Greg Brooks in tiny Ridgetop,Tennessee
