"Calling all Campy geeks (such as myself): Pete (Paine?) in the UK, a list member, has an NOS Record flat-cage front der. on eBay right now (item # 1075928136) that apparently has both a cable stop and aluminum pivot arms with a circlip on the upper pivot. Has anyone ever seen a variation like this? I'm surprised to see this combination. I can think of nine different versions of this front der. (not counting SR), but none exactly like this. If it were assembled from an early body and a later cage assembly, that would still not explain the circlip. Did the cable-stop version carry on farther than I think?"

I have never seen such a brute. To me, the interesting observation is not just the circlip, but the swelling at the other end of that shaft. In my memory, that was not done until well after the circlip -- in fact, I haven't seen many of these bulges on pre-CPSC (lipped) units. But, I could be getting senile.
