Palo Alto Bicycles, located in the heart of Silicon Valley in Palo Alto,
California, hosted an evening with Jobst Brandt last night, with the
unveiling of 16 oversized prints from his 40 years cycling the Alps. The
event was well attended, with close to 200 people crowded into the store for
the slideshow and talk by Jobst. An authentic rock-polka bandprovided the
appropriate German oom-pa-pa music throughout the evening. Jobst spoke about
his adventures and displayed his 'tour-ready' 68cm custom Peter Johnson
bicycle, complete with packed Karrimor Nelson 'Long flap' seat bag. Jobst's
tales enthralled the audience, however, it was difficult to hear most of his
story due to the background noise of the store and lack of microphone and
speakers. All in all, a fun evening, with a few local celebrities in
attendance.
