>Anyone have info or recollections on these cranks? Chuck Schmidt<<<<<
Um, is it OK to "borrow" a recollection from someone else? Peter Johnson, who at one time was sponsored by Zeus, tells the story of a team-mate whose foot hit the ground at the instant of the starting signal -- because his Zeus-2000 crank had ruptured!
Is there a complete 2001 series?
There was no complete 2001 series. Zeus used '2001' in 3 instances to distinguish a new design which co-existed with the corresponding '2000' item: 1) the 2001 sidepull brake (2000 were centerpulls), 2) the 2001 braze-on shift levers (2000 were clamp-on), 3) the 2001 vertical rear dropouts (2000 dropouts were horizontal).
Can anyone verify the time frame? >Wayne Bingham
From grubbing through magazines and catalogs it appears that the 2000 crankset wasn't on offer until late '75. I have some cranks with milled thru-slots which are from '76 (marked with a 'g' on the inner arm). But by '77 the not-all-the-way-thru version was in production -- so there's a scant 1-year time frame for these puppies.
