There must have been a large number of those strange geometric rear dropouts in the Gitane parts bin. I bought a used Gitane "Racing Team" frame in the mid seventies from an airman who had bought it while stationed in England. It is all 531 DB Reynolds with the sticker in French. It has the unusual "honeycomb" dropouts and full Nuovo Record equipment, long point lugs with cutouts, and the usual casual attention to detail. This bike, with the geometric rear dropouts dates to 1973.
