I seem to remember DB tubes with crazy-thin unbutts, 0.35mm maybe? Brent Steelman was the US agent, but I don't think he brought a whole lot in. I used one, maybe two sets, but didn't use the steering column - which is unbutted.

I didn't use the steerer because I heard rumors of lawsuits - one by the rider who was injured when the steerer broke, against Steelman, and one by Steelman against Excel because testing on the broken steerer showed it wasn't as strong as they said it was.

I repeat, those were mere rumors I heard, so don't put a lot of weight behind 'em. And the rider in the rumors was a mountain bike racer, back when rigid forks with 1" steerers were used - their steerer is probably strong enough for most any road use.
