My Austro-Daimler Ultima frameset that I bought in 1980 has recessed brake mounting bolts.
By the way, I have just come back onto the list after about a year's absence. Like the rest of you, I like the wierd and obscure bits and pieces. I have about 40/50 bikes, of British, French, Italian and US (Paramounts and other Schwinns) origin. Almost all of my frames are 24" to 26", with one 27" Cinelli SC for my wife to ride. Most of the bikes are in the 1940's through 1960"s. with exceptions on each end of the scale.
I am looking for a PRIOR high flange rear hub that will accept a freewheel, and also any information regarding a French touring cycle calld a PITARD-- any information regarding this make and expecially their logo (a triangle with a square in it) that I can use as a pattern for a head tube decal..
Nice to be back and Cheers to all-- Nelson Miller -- Seattle
