I guess this solves the mystery! Stevan Thomas Alameda, CA

Hi! If you're receiving this, it means you asked about availability of the new replica Campy brake lever hoods whose auction just ended on Ebay.

As of today, there are 15 pairs available. I do not know if they could be made in larger quantities, only 3 - 4 pairs a day can be made using present tooling. I hope to have available a larger supply as time goes on -- maybe getting as many as 12 pairs a day, but for now a few a week is all that can be expected until more tooling can be made. I wish they could be more common than that, it will take some time to make the quantity that will fill the demand :-)

For this first run, I ask that no one order more than 3 pairs -- first come with money first served, with hopefully little delay for those ordering too late for the 15.

After seeing how the auction went [about how I expected], the price per pair is $45 USD with free USPS [First Class mail] shipping within the continental USA. Foreign shipping, insurance, etc. will have to be determined on a case-by-case basis, or you could figure it out with the web sites of your favorite carriers -- packages will weigh less than a pound.

Later on, bulk orders [5 or more] will have some sort of price break included. I also hope to set up a Paypal account soon -- for now, a postal money order or a personal check will do [international please make out an international postal money order, only!].

No check will be cashed until the product is in hand, ready to ship.

I honestly have no idea how long a pair of the replicas will last on a bike. I used to have to replace originals about every other year or so, so when you receive your hoods I would like feedback as to how they work out for you, whether you have problems with them or if they last longer than your bikes; the hardness of the rubber [is it too hard?], etc.

And for those concerned with "how to tell the fakes from the real," there's more than one mold line on the replicas. Later pairs with some exceptions on the 15 pairs also are marked on the insides cast in place.

Thanks much and I hope to have these around a while :-)
