Hi CR folks. I'm working on plans for the Larz Anderson show in Brookline Massachussetts on August 18. (just outside of Boston).

If there is sufficient interest, I'd like to have a seminar the day before the show at the Museum of Transportation. The seminar would go from about 12:30 - 4:00. The question is how many people would attend - the fee would be $25 per person. The other question is what topics would people like to hear? Possibilities include:

Path Racers - trying to draw in a leading expert for this one

Hetchins - Peter Naiman wants to present this one

French Bikes - I'd probably do this one

Cinelli - I'd probably do this one or the French one if more folks wanted to hear about Cinelli than French bikes.

Other topics might include: To restore or not to restore, the evolution of the modern lightweight in the 1920's thru 1930's, The glorious development towards the Campagnolo groupo - a focus on the late 50's, keeping your vintage bike going in the modern world. Also, I'd be open to suggetions of what people want to here.

We need to have about 30 people sign on for the seminars in order for it to make sense. If we don't get enough people we'll just have a few seminars the day of the show. Please Please Please - e-mail me ASAP if you think this is something you can participate in.

Also, before the seminars I'm thinking that interested folks can meet for one of the local club rides and go as a group on the ride. The Charles River Wheelmen used to have (and if they don't we can still do the loop anyway) a wonderful 28 mile loop that is in many places wonderfully rural and never too hilly (OK, one section will really hurt fix gear riders). For a ride that leaves from the outskirts of Boston, it is amazing how rual the route will seem. New England at its best. Finally, after the seminars, I would get a head count of how many would like to do dinner as a group, and we'd all meet at a local resturant.

Thanks for listening and hope to see as many friends and new friends as possible for this event.
