Mark:
Actually, no. I don't recall ever making a weight comparison of the two. You never know though, I may have, since I weighed most everything else back in the seventies. However, my little book with all of that info. is unfortunately currently in storage.
But then again I have this peculiar habit of drilling little holes with big chamfers, in my aluminum alloy pulleys, so maybe they (my drilled pulleys) aren't that far off.
And, the pulleys I tried to put on my Jubilee derailleur, the ones with the smaller holes that didn't work, are a newer brand (Alloy Accents?) in a gold color (for my gold Jack Taylor with Jubilee derailleur). Instead, I installed a pair of (drilled) Bullseye pulleys, since they have the larger hole and work just fine. They're just not gold anodized.
I seriously doubt that the holes will cause any weaknesses in the aluminum pulleys, and so far (after many years using them) I'm correct. Besides, if I'm not mistaken, Jubilee derailleurs come with typical Huret ball-bearing pulleys, which I do not believe are very light. Correct me if I'm wrong, since I removed the original Huret pulleys and they've been put away in my storage unit for a while. Also, with the exception of only a few plastic pulleys, most have bushings rather than ball-bearings, and the main arguement in favor of their (Bullseye & similar pulleys) use should center around their savings in energy expended, as Bullseye always did in their advertisements. Aero wheels are usually heavier than traditional wire spoked wheels, but some folks with the bucks to pay for them, use them to go faster in spite of their added weight.
By the way , speaking of weight savings, have you weighed your pulleys lately? The way you posed your question would indicate that you're not any more sure about which is lighter than I.
