The Nivex shifts better than most modern derailleurs. Especially with a wide 5/6-speed chain, which most derailleurs hate. It feels like Hyperglide, but you are using a normal freewheel (which will not wear out like Hyperglide with its wide cogs). There is absolutely no comparison between a Nivex and the other old stuff, like Simplex SLJ, Campy NR/SR, etc.

Don't know about the 543 - anybody got experience there?
