My experience is front and center... no sidelines involvement here. I wrecked a classic Raleigh International and bent the frame into a pretzel while training for a race over 20 years ago - that one cost me 6 weeks in the hospital and a week in a coma. Fortuately, the accident did not inhibit my personal interest in cycling! Back in thoise days, I raced in USCF Cat 2.
Where other athletes talk about their scars from competition, I can point out to the road rash and stiches that I have experienced from bike racing. I would rather participate than sit on the sidelines.
