I believe that the Union generator lightset headlamps of that period, the ones with the larger (4" ?) reflectors, had halogen bulbs. They burned out at high speeds, usually, but I figured out how to hook in a zener diode to open and drain off any over-voltage and then they worked great for me up in Asheville, NC while I was in college.
They ate tires, too. :-)
Am I remembering these right ?
