Harvey Sachs....I'm with you. My everyday ride wheels on my 1980 Moto Grand Jubile are laced 36x3 cross 15/16! DT spokes with alloy nipples with a pair of Nuovo Record HF hubs built with Campy Omega Clincher rims. Tension is about 110 on the Wheelsmith tensiometer.. Oh...and the hub had a broken axel when I got it so I got a Wheels of Boulder axel and spaced it out to take a 8 speed Sachs freewheel so it indexes with my Suntour SL shifters mounted as bar ends. (Disclaimer...BTW...Don't try this at home...I weigh 150 lb).
Anyway, the wheels have done 3 RAMRODS (Ride around Mt. Rainier in one day-154
miles and 10000 ft of climbing on the same day) and 3 Cycle Oregons plus the
training miles needed to do those rides and haven't moved tweaked, pinged or
ponged. Look just like the ones in Brandt's book as I recall. I don't think
I'll worry about them.
Cheers,
Randy Nelson
