Thanks to my good friend Chesley, I will be represented at the Sunday Cirque events (ride and swap) by my 16 year old son, Aaron.
I will be assisting, as event mechanic, the ASAP ride from Charlotte, NC to Myrtle Beach, SC. This 3-day ride, by actual handicapped cyclists on a collection of handbikes and tandems, is held annually to raise money for the purchase of specially modified exercise equipment for handicapped people to use. Each day these folks, many missing legs, some blind, etc, will cycle 60 or so miles and I will be keeping their bikes patched together and rolling. Wish them (and me) luck ?
Aaron is the tall slender climber-looking kid. I hope he'll have my Classic Rendezvous wool jersey on for me (Dale ?) He'll probably be riding a nearly NOS lugged steel 1988 Bianchi Trofeo with puke green everything. This 56cm (?) bike is for sale for $200, delivered at the Cirque after the ride. Puke green saddle, cables and toe straps !
(Ken, please give Aaron the Weyless bottle cage for my Pro ?)
Aaron will have all my spare cash afterwards at the swap, so be nice to him - he likes all sorts of old junk just like me. I hope he can pick up an old think 6-speed chain for our Competition, and maybe some Shimano 8-speed STI take-offs. Maybe some Simplex retrofriction shifters ? :-)
Wish I could be there myself (giving Aaron this cash is really distressing to me...), but I got to do the Right Thing here. Its the "CR Way" !
Thanks so much Chesley - see you next year, friends.
